A script is a document that outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story. The director, cast, editor, and production crew will, based on your "outline", interpret your story their way when it is filmed. Other writers may be brought in or you may be asked to re-write the entire thing. So many people are involved in the making of a film, a script must conform to standards that all involved parties understand and thus has a specific format or layout, margins, notation, and other conventions. This document is intended to overview the typical elements used screenplay writing. You don't tell your audience your story, you SHOW them. You must learn to write a screenplay VISUALLY. Write what they will SEE and what they will HEAR.

On top of the script i have blocked it out to show the areas the director, cinematographer and editor will discuss and focus on. Script blocking helps ensure the day of filming is run more effeciently as beforehand, suring and after people are reminded daily of what they need to do specifically.

Dear Megan...

SCRIPT

My
Script :

Due to progression with change of scenes, I had to refine my original script. Although my original script was informing for the director, cinematographer and editor I still felt as though it was lacking content in terms of what exactly is the character doing in that scene from the face to the feet movement. In the bedroom scene with Megan I decided I wanted to go for less dialogue approach and do various shots of reading/on her phone. Additionally, the time-lapse scene location was definite in the final script instead of being one of many choices in the original script. Furthermore, scenes were taken out such as when Megan storms away because I wanted my message to be very direct to the audience in the most experimental way possible without making pointless scenes. The newest version of the script is more precise and specific about what I want to see in every scene.

A script is essential as it is the basic guideline for all the crew and cast to follow. Script blocking made it easier for me to know what sections to focus on certain day.
Yours Sincerly, Megan xo
