I chose this template to go with, because I liked the idea of only one spot of colour on the poster and felt it could be cool to take pictures for as well.

At first I had my actor covered up then gradually removed the cloth and had my actor cover herself instead as i wnated the audience to denote how tense her body language is and how desperate she is to hold on to herslef. She was laying flat but was not always looking into the camera lens as I felt her sad expression was mor eimpacting on the audience when she looked across. I choose the final image based on what various people thought would look more effective as it was important my poster resembled that of an professional short film than look amateur and as if a school child literally made it.

Photoshop was used to cut around the background of my actor, specifically the magentic lasso tool and rubber tool as i felt by combining both tools i was not only able to do it quickly but reach hard places like between her hair strands. Second thing to do was to work on the petals I got an image of many petals and cropped out the petals one by one, saving the individually with different shapes so I’ll easily be able to manipulate them onto my poster.

Next I researched various backgrounds that had a smoky affect as i wanted it correlate with the homepage of my website and i wanted to encode a sense of mystery and confusion into the poster as smoky connotes alarm and confusion at times. Also I wnated the background to be reflective of her mindstate, the sense of nothing-ness and aniome she feels because she lascks lover from people around her. I finalised it down to one based on audience feedback/peer feedback.
I placed the cropped image of actor onto the background first then began to place the petals, which I discovered for some reason it would automatically turn to black and white even though the petals was red. After a long time trying to change it to red I realised I couldn’t because the background was originally black and white so Photoshop automatically changes everything to a grey theme. At first I thought I would just go along with it but it appeared to dull.

Therefore, I looked for alternative background that add element of colour but still went with my love or smoky theme and began experimenting by placing my actor on top to see which background went best.
Poster Construction

I was inspired by this feature length poster which i came across when doing my intial poster research. The strong colours stood out to me especially the use of red, which i decided i wnated to implement this use of bold colours especially considering my film also uses bold strong colours through the use of mise-en-scene.

Once the background was finalised, i placed my actor on top and the petals, I found that i did not like the petal shapped heart than i orginally choose tehrefor ei looked for an alternative. Also i wnated the petals to be more thererfore i coiled it around the title aswell. A slogan was imporatant for me to add because I didnt have much writing on my poster therefore i went back to my original list of synoposis ideas and tried to shorten them even further and then asked my peers which slogan sounded the most relevant and catchy.
